Day 1, 09-04-07, Tuesday:Pick up RV in Lynnwood and drive back to Lynden. Pack RV with supplies, etc.
Day 2, 09-05-07, Wednesday: Head for Cache Creek, approx 180 miles. Spend night in Cache Creek, www.Brooksidecampsite.com ,www.southCaribootourism.com. P. 82 in book. Check out Big Bar Lake, Bowron lake, Sheridan lake and Barkerville and loon lake. Also Thompson and Bonaparte rivers
Day 3, 09-06-07, Thursday: Head north on highway 97 toward Prince George, 274 miles from Cache creek. Will pass road for Loon Lake. Casino at Williams Lake. Sintech RV has TV and Sam, www.sintechpark.bc.ca ; (p. 107) or Hartway RV park, (1-866-962-8848) p. 111 are possible stays in Prince George. Also www.tourismpg.com. Load up on fresh food here. Fish Dragon lake, 10 mile lake, Fawn, Sheridan, and Bridge lakes.
Day 4, 09-07-07, Friday: Head North on Highway 97, 245 miles to Dawson Creek. At Dawson Creek, possible parks are Northern lights has TV and Sam, ( www.NRLV.com ), Tubby’s is close to town , Mile 0 Park, or Alahart. Check out www.Hellonorth.com and www.Dawsoncreektoalaska.com . P. 119 in book. Dawson Creek and Fort St. John have Farmers markets on Saturday mornings. Fish Pine river and Sukinka River (near Chetwynd) for Grayling.
Day 5, 09-08-07, Saturday: Continue heading North on Highway 97 toward Fort Nelson, 283 miles away. See maps on p. 120-124. Stay at Blue Bell Inn ( www.bluebellinn.ca ) Also, www.northernrockies.com . P. 144 in book. Alternate sites are Westend campground (TV) and Pioneer Hotel/RV (TV), and Toad River Lodge (TV) on Reflection Lake MP 422, 250 232-5401. Fish borrow pits south of Fort Nelson, and Sikanni Chief and Peace Rivers. Charlie Lake. Don’t fill up on water at Fort Nelson: bad taste.
Day 6, 09-09-07, Sunday: Head north and West on Highway 97 toward Watson Lake, Yukon Territory, 330 miles away. Fill up on gas at Contact Creek, 40 miles South of Watson Lake. Stay at Campground Services RV or Downtown RV park, TV and a Good Sam Park. P. 159 in book. Check out Liard Hot springs (P.155) and the Signpost Forest. Get Yukon fishing license here. Cross the continental divide on this day. Fish Liard, Morley, Hyland, Swift, Toad, Racing, and Tetsa Rivers. Also Muncho Lake.
Day 7, 09-10-07, Monday: Head West on Yukon Highway 1 towards Whitehorse. Stay at Inn at the River, Between Johnson’s Crossing and Jake’s corner, approx. 247 miles from Watson Lake. Make Reservations via www.exceptionalplaces.com . Call Inn on the River, 867 390-2151 and ask for road conditions from Trish or Royce. If road down to Teslin River is wet, we will park on top and they will drive us down. We are confirmed for this night at the main lodge and for 7:00 PM dinner. Jacuzzi in room. Day 8, 09-11-07, Tuesday: Head West through Whitehorse toward Haynes Junction and Haynes, 246 miles. Get fresh food at Whitehorse. In Haynes, P. 715 in book, stay at Hitch up RV park, hitchuprv.com. Get fresh seafood here. Eat at Bamboo Room for best halibut and chips. Also, Lighthouse Restaurant. Mail Netflix.
Day 9, 9-12-07, Wednesday: Take ferry from Haynes to Skagway; Ferry:1-800-526-6731; www.alaskaferry.com , Reservation made: conf. # 1234476, for trip # W-5. Check in at 11:00 AM and get tickets at ferry office. Morning is free so wash clothes here. Ferry leaves at 12:30 PM, arrive Skagway 1:30 PM. From Skagway, head north to Whitehorse and continue on to Haynes Junction, 208 miles away. Check out sand dunes at Carcross.. Stay at Kluane RV Kampground, www.kluanerv.com , p. 196, a Good Sam park. Good food at White River Crossing. Or stay at Destruction Bay Lodge (good Sam), or Kluane Wilderness Village RV Park, www.mp1118. com, p.205.
Day 10, 9-13-07, Thursday: Head for Tok Alaska, about 150 miles, p. 213. Gas up at Border City Lodge in AK. Stay at Tok RV Village (Sam), Sourdough Campground, or Tundra Lodge RV Park. Eat at Fast Eddy’s or the Salmon Bake. Contact Dean Hutchinson.
Day 11, 9-14-07, Friday: Northeast on Highways 5 and 9 toward Dawson City, 185 miles away., some gravel. Visit Eagle.65 miles one way, P. 301; fish and gold pan. Diamond tooth Gerties, 4th and Queen st. Stay at www.dawsoncityrvpark.com (TV), or www.bonanzagold.ca (good Sam) P. 288, or Gold Rush Campground, which is downtown. Casino in Dawson City. www.Dawsoncity.ca. Fish 40 mile river
Day 12, 9-15-07, Saturday: Head south on highway 2 to Carmacks, 221 miles away. P. 283. Stay at www.HotelCarmacks.com, a Good Sam Park. Fish tailing ponds near Klondike River; grayling fishing at Crooked and Moose Creeks; also Yukon River near Black Mike’s and the Nodenskjold River.
Day 13, 9-16-07, Sunday: Head south on Highway 2 to Whitehorse. Do Takhini Hot Springs P. 168, right before Whitehorse. Get fresh supplies here. Then East on Highway 1 to Teslin, total mileage 201. Stay at Dawson Peaks Resort ( www.dawsonpeaks.ca ) or Yukon Motel ( www.yukonmotel.com ), both are good Sam. Fish Tagish again.
Day 14, 9-17-07, Monday: Head East on Highway 1 to junction with Highway 37 (Cassiar Highway) then turn South on 37 to Dease River Crossing, about 250 miles. P. 275. Or try bell2lodge.com nearby. Note: it is 476 miles from Watson Lake to Yellowhead Highway #16 at Kitwanga; some gravel road. Gas up at New Hazelton. Fish Kinaskan Lake.
Day 15, 9-18-07, Tuesday: Stay and fish at Red Goat Lodge, P. 271, on Highway 37, approx 125 miles. Also, Boya Lake and Stikine River.
Day 16, 9-19-07, Wednesday: Head south on 37 to Stewart-Hyder, 247 miles away. P. 267. Stay at Bear River RV Park (TV). Buy fish here?? Fish at Meziadin Lake Prov. Park.
Day 17, 9-20-07, Thursday: Head South on 37 to Kitwanga, then East on Highway 16 to Smithers., about 216 miles. Stay at www.cassiarrv.ca. in Kitwanga P. 265, or Morrice Town RV, P. 249.Fish Zymoltz River (AKA Copper River) near Smithers; Check out Ross Lake and fish ladders.
Day 18, 9-21-07, Friday: Head East on 16 to Prince George; see Sept 6 for RV Parks: Sintech or Hartway. Mileage to PG is 229. Get fresh food here. Nulki, Tachick and Fraser Lakes.
Day 19, 9-22-07, Saturday: Head East on 16 to Tete Jaune Cache, 171 miles; P. 239. Stay at Irvin’s campground, (Sam) www.irvins.ca. Alternate is Cataline Motel/RV (TV) P. 252
Day 20, 9-23-07, Sunday: Head South on Highway 5 to Kamloops, about 200 miles; www.KamloopsBC.com or www.HelloBC.com or www.tourismkamloops.com . Casino at www.lakecitycasinos.com .
Day 21, 9-24-07, Monday: Head South on Highway 5 to Lynden. About 200 miles. Unload and clean up. Day 22, 9-25-07, Tuesday: Get up early and drive RV to Lynnwood before 11:00 AM. Updated 8-31-07
